Celibacy in the Catholic Church

Today I posted  briefly  at a  thread  for Matt Towery's  column, titled "Red-shirt Priests.  I added to what  Laurie from NY  was saying so well.   this is a continuation of my  post:

Christ in the gospels is celibate.  All told, that makes  celibacy for his priests the norm most pleasing to God.  We all must  learn to see everything in our lives as  God's Will,  not just the expedient options open to us. If it pleases God, it's better  and holier. That's a point Matt Towery has seemingly forgotten. We are God's  servants.  Even as Jesus served His Almighty Father, we must also.

The glaring problem of excusing or tolerating evil behavior of  the clergy  by Catholic  bishops  is much more  serious than the apparent faults of a vow of celibacy. In ordinary situations a sinful priest  can be absolved and  live a holy life. (If he  breaks  the vow.)

Bishops  have to be instructed  and  receive actual formation  in  dutifully coping with a confessed   offender. They must  by no means allow him any new leeway  on account of  his contrition. I think  that made the whole problem derail  so many good intentions.

Too many of those individuals have clearly been addicts.  They  may be sorry and beg absolution today  --and in a week  return to the sin.  Everybody does it, to be  sure.  But it can't be  risked when innocents are sure to be victimized.  No  good bishop  should be  lax  or unprepared  to handle such  ungodly serious  problems.  Be prepared to  deal with  it  honestly and  strictly above board.

If the Pope somehow,  conceivably were to depart from long  tradition, HE is the authority:   A  new, hard look  at the  secrecy of  the Catholic confessional  might be in order.

The confessor  could  be dispensed in  truly serious cases; to denounce  predator priests  such as  some who live abroad  today;  flaunting the sins  they committed. Do THAT, rather than absolve;   for the sake of potential innocent victims.  And; in most cases, report them to the  police as  their  required  penance.

Allowing  marriage  for  the  priesthood is NOT an option  pleasing to God;  or   it would  have been done long ago.

Pray for the Pope this Holy Week

Greetings, Friends of Toon Hall and  mutts in the trollery,

I've been remiss in posting blog commentary; though you can always find me  at the blog upstairs.   Today, sadly,  I'm here as a defender of  the Holy Father;  recently being assailed  everywhere  as an enabler  of  priests  who molested  children.  Needless to say,  I don't believe he is;  and I deplore the ruthless behavior  against him, even by ranking officials of foreign governments.  He's an old man and must be suffering a lot;   during this  Holy Week especially. It's Benedict XVI's heavy cross;  His Via Dolorosa.

We observe with  great sadness that here in America  lawyers of every stripe   intend him direct harm.  They hope to gather up more mobs of  abused  children so-called,  to bring class action suits against the Vatican and even the Pope himself.  They demand  he  appear in person to be cross-examined.  Fairly routine  when  they expect  to land a  big fish.  They  would love to  have  large  chunks of  Vatican property to  split with the offended plaintiffs.

But they won't have one euro.  The riches of the Vatican do not belong to cardinals or  popes.  All we've ever seen in those collections are   a heritage  of  humanity and  sole proprty of  Jesus Christ.  It's all His  house!  Graciously  offered up to him  by  Catholics   over many centuries.  Not stolen, as in  other  collected treasures,  but paid for by   the faithful.

The vicitims who continue   with  grievances against the Church  are  all in it  not  for  vindication mainly  but the financial  promises.  Lawyers  offer to  give them  immense rewards for their  suffering;   while THEY  carve up the  bounty;  --one for you, two for me.  Whatever's fair.  We work hard  for the money.   --This is fair enough  when justly granted.  No other reward  is coming to any of them;  they'll  go their way  paid in full.  Except  when they stand  before the judgment seat of  Our Lord.  They'll  be confronted there;  they  sold the Church out for money.  Just as Judas   sold  his  Lord.  They'll have caused  scandal  to the  great satisfaction of Satan.  He wishes  nothing less than the destruction of the Holy Catholic Church.  So many of the victims  could not forgive;  but  came  40 years  after the offense;  to make money off a  priest of  90 years.  Forgiveness?   Let God  forgive if He wants to!

Nevertheless  the Catholic Church will endure and live in peace.  We have Christ's  own promise that she'll endure,  The Lord will be  with us  to the  end of the world.  And then on His return He'll  pay every soul  the just dues of all  the works  he  did in this life.   He'll  give Benedict XVI  himself,  what  he has earned; whether in good deeds or evil.  Because--we do not exonerate the Pope if he  wrongfully  protected  sacrilegious  priests and lax bishops.   It might have been so.  Here in the world;   nobody truly knows, and shouldn't judge.  God is the all-knowing Judge.  Even popes will have to answer to him.  Me too;  I'll be  facing judgment as well.  Many, many  greedy lawyers  and  unjust accusers of priests shall be   there  also on Judgment Day.  We've ALL sinned.  And many priests  are  sinners too.   But the vast majority,IMHO  are being falsely accused today.  Because  love of money is the root of all evil;  and  there are millions  to be  won as a  "victim" of Christ's  Church  these days.

I used to frequent California  racetracks  when I was  young and venal.  A popular saying there  was  "Money makes the mare  run."

Commentary on Carrie Prejean Today

Noticed more facetious, smarmy BS;  by idiotic  Eugene  the Wax Axe:

He thinks he's clever--

"I try to share that knowledge . . . When someone defends the homosexual lifestyle,  I remind him  Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate."

He forgot God was speaking,  not just a verse.  Homosexual "lifestyle"  is the  rotten life;  he  won't go there.

Would he even THINK it's God  behind  Leviticus?    This one is a lunatic.  So, the sarcasm:

". . . regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them."

As if he'd follow anything holy.
He blasphemes  rules  followed by the Israelites in a compact with the Lord who brought them out of bondage.

The rule he scorns outright  is about homosexual depravity.
That law means business.  God will  not  forgive such disgusting things  without  full repentance. We might then  think, Give up, Eugene.

NO-- this nincompoop acts as though by naming some dietary laws or Mosaic justice of those times, he can ridicule and dismiss God's hatred of all sin.

In particular buggering & fellating between homosexuals.
To disobey rules  about shellfish or pork, he thinks is on a level with the dopey copulating of  two men  created in God's own holy image.

Every sane person sees the disgrace.  EuGeckko doesn't.

Eating infractions were paid for by  penance and forgiven. All  Mosaic law is relative to  the Israelite's daily life by a Covenant with God.

Of itself, sin is sin, whether it's part of the Law of Moses or not.  Christ told us nothing edible can defile a man. What comes  out of your soul defiles you.  Lust in its  lower forms.  Acts of filth defile body and soul.  PLAIN SINS.

The sin God sees for abominable or  depraved,  be it  adultery, abortion  or  sodomy;  is intrinsically and ALWAYS condemned.

Dietary,  sabbath,  and other laws   were in time abrogated,  through the actions of  Jesus and the Holy Spirit. God  has not changed His commandment against adultery, and not ever, of homoerotic acts.   God spoke once and for all.

Eugene's  become an atheist.  It means little to him whether or not  men are filthy.

He thinks out of self-love  to be equal to any Christian. But he isn't worthy of any Christian's attention.
